In pursuance of the MoU signed between the Departments of English, Govt.T.Romana College and Mizoram Christian College, a Faculty Exchange programme was held on February 19, 2025. Two faculty members of each college were designated as guest lecturers to the participating departments and were assigned to the Core classes for the day. The Department of English, GTRC was honoured to host Dr Lalbiakdiki and Mr Lallawmkima Miller from MCC, while Dr Vanlalchami and Mr C.Zirsangliana represented GTRC at the MCC Campus.
The programme is the culmination of an MoU in which a Students' Exchange Programme had been conducted earlier between the two parties. Participating students and faculty members expressed great satisfaction over the successful conduct of the Exchange programmes and indicated interest in conducting similar programmes in the future.
An awareness programme on SWAYAM was organised in the College on 18th February, 2025 at 1:15 pm. The resource person Dr. Sukanta Roy, associate professor, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Mizoram urged the students of Govt. T. Romana College to register and pursue the online courses offered by SWAYAM. Dr. Roy was accompanied by Prof. Benjamin Lalrinsanga, State Nodal officer (NEP), Higher and Technical Education Department.
SWAYAM, is the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) existing Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform providing educational opportunities for a vast number of learners. It aims to bring the best teaching and learning resources to everyone, especially those who have yet to benefit from the digital revolution and access the knowledge economy.
In alignment with NEP 2020, the Ministry recognizes the need for SWAYAM to expand its existing offerings to identify and include courses aligned with industry needs and that enhance learners’ employability. To this extent, SWAYAM Plus will be launched in collaboration with leading industry players and ed‐tech companies to bring employability and professional development‐focused programs to its learners
In collaboration with Govt. T. Romana College and the Mizoram Arm Wrestling Association, the 1st Inter-College Arm Wrestling Competition was held on February 14, 2025 at Govt. T. Romana College ground under the theme "Empowering Youth to be Fit, Fierce, and Drug-Free." This event was graced by Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary, Sports & Youth Service, Excise & Narcotics Department, who presided as the chief guest.
In his speech, Pu Lalramsanga Sailo urged college students to stay away from harmful habits and to prioritize their physical and mental well-being by maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that these values are essential for achieving success and encouraged students to participate in such positive engagements.
During the event, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal of Govt. T. Romana College, expressed her gratitude and stated that the competition was organized with the belief that arm wrestling could serve as a platform to keep young people away from drugs while promoting discipline and perseverance.
The 1st Inter-College Arm Wrestling Competition featured four weight categories, with 56 arm wrestlers participating from 11 colleges across Mizoram. The winners in each categories were awarded medals along with certificate and prize money.
Alongside this event, other significant programs were also organized at the college. An awareness program on the dangers of drug abuse was conducted by Pi Zothantluangi Chenhrang, Inspector, Excise & Narcotics Department. Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India and TATA AIA conducted career guidance/awareness campaigns.

On February 14, 2025, Govt. T. Roman College organized Anti-Drugs Awareness & Prevention Programme. The event took place in Room 202 of the RUSA Building, with IV Semester boys in attendance.
Mrs. Baby Lalramsiami, Associate Professor and Nodal Officer of the college's Anti-Drug Cell, delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the alarming drug addiction situation in Mizoram and the drug trafficking boundaries within the country. She also spoke about life skills for youth and their susceptibility to substance abuse.
Additionally, the programme was honored by the presence of Mrs. Zothantluangi Chenrang, Inspector of Excise & Narcotics, who shared insights on efforts to reduce drug demand and addiction. She encouraged students to recognize their potential and use their abilities wisely for a better future.
Jacksy Lalhmingsangi from Govt. T.Romana college was selected to participate in the prestigious Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.The "India Today NE" proudly writes about her as representing the Mizoram National Cadet Corps (NCC) who took center stage at the Republic Day cultural program in Delhi, delivering a performance that celebrated the vibrant traditions of her state. The College is proud of her and Lalroutmawi Changsan who was one of the 3 participants representing Mizoram in 2024.
Republic Day is celebrated annually by Govt. T. Romana College on January 26. This year, as the Day coincided with Sunday, the College commemorated the 76th Republic Day, 2025 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on the 24th January, 2025 in the College Courtyard.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended by the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Sakhawliana, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC. Following the welcome address, the National Flag was hoisted by the Acting Principal and the IQAC Coordinator of the College, Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi. During the playing of the National Anthem, the NCC of Govt. T. Romana College rendered a salute to the National Flag. Subsequently, the Acting Principal, Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi delivered a concise yet impactful speech highlighting the significance of the day. She honoured the courageous individuals who made profound sacrifices for India’s Independence.
Furthermore, she acknowledged the significant contributions of renowned national figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and so on. The function was attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff and students.

NOTIFICATION
In pursuance of the resolution of the meeting of NEP-2020(UG) Committee held on 4th July, 2024, and with the approval of Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University the following notification is hereby issued which will be effective from 2024-2025 academic session-
1. The promotion rules specified in Notification No. MZU/TFC- NEP 2020/24/1 dated 21st March 2024, which required students to clear at least 50% of the courses to progress from the first year to the second year, from the second year to the third year, and from the third year to the fourth year, is revoked and shall align with those of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Accordingly, a candidate shall be permitted to proceed from the First Semester up to the Final Semester irrespective of his/her failure in any of the Semester Examinations. However, the candidate must appear for all the arrear papers of each course(s) along with the concerned Semester Examinations.
II. For appearing in the End Semester examination, a student shall not be required to pass the internal assessment (i.e 40%). The passing criteria for a paper will be an aggregate of 40% marks
III. For change of major at the end of the first year-
a) A student must complete one additional year to obtain the required credits in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to change However, total period will not exceed 14 consecutive Semesters and also such student will not be considered for merit/ranking etc.
or,
b) A student must complete an Online Course of the same credit in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to change the major, subject to the availability of the Online Courses approved by Mizoram University or the SWAYAM Courses.
IV. All Minor Papers (Science) of Undergraduate shall exclude the practical component, which means that no practical paper shall be included in minor science papers for Undergraduate Courses.
V. The name 'Environmental Science/Education' in the Value Added Course for the Third Semester is renamed as 'Environmental Education' for Undergraduate Courses.
On 30th November, the College released a book "Advancing Beyond Obstscles : The Empowerment of Women" published by the Department of English and the Women Cell of IQAC. The book was launched by Prof. Malsawmliana in the function organised by the principal in which she released two of her books namely "Scribbles, Strokes and Clicks" a book of poems and "Mizo Women who Made a Difference" which is a collection of biodata of some exceptional women who have broken gender barriers in their respective professional fields.
