Commemoration of Foundation Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram

Foundation Day

The Foundation Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram was commemorated at Lok Bhavan, Mizoram on February 24, 2026. The event was held in two sessions - one at 3 AM and the second session was the interaction session with the governor.

The Honourable Governor of Mizoram was the chief guest at the event. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, was requested to give a speech on behalf of the people of Mizoram. The Thingsiri Cultural Club of the College presented a medley, a fusion of two dances, and a traditional costume parade was also presented by the students of Government College.

Refreshments were served by the Governor's office, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Cyber Crime Awareness Campaign

Govt. T. Romana College observed Cyber Crime Awareness Campaign on the Occasion of Police Raising Day on January 21, 2026 at the initiatives of Cyber Crime Police Station, Aizawl, Mizoram. The programme was organised in collaboration with Dept. of Political Science and Legal Cell, Govt. T. Romana College. The programmed was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, Dept. Of Political Science and the Resource Person was Sub Inspector John Vanlalruata Sailo, Cyber Crime Police Station, Aizawl. The Resource Person gave a details presentation on the rapid rise of cyber crime and various type of cyber-crimes, and how to prevent oneself from its victim. The students who participated found the programme will be helpful in their everyday lives.

Re-Opening of College for 2026

Reopening 2026The administrative office of the college opened on 4th January, 2026. Faculty meeting was held on 16.01.26. Students returned to the college on 20.01.26. to attend the first assembly . Rev. Johnny Lalremruatfea, Director of SYNOD CAMPUS Ministry was requested to offer the prayer of dedication. The Principal reminded the students of the different rules and regulation and requested them to abstain from intoxicants and maintain cleanliness not only in the campus but take extra care to remember that Republic Vengthlang has won different awards for maintaing the clean locality/ veng.

NATIONAL VOTERS’ DAY PADYATRA

MY Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, organised the National Voters’ Day Padyatra / Sundays on Cycle – 2026 on 25 January across all State & Union Territory capitals and District Headquarters, with the objective of maximising youth participation in the democratic process with the caption of MY Bharat MY Vote. Since 25th January 2025 is Sunday Mizoram state has been permitted to observed any convenient day window period ie 25th -30th January 2026. The programme is observed in all district as well as in State Capitals. In, Aizawl on 30th January 2026 it was jointly organised by Mera Yuva Bharat , Govt T.Romana College, Youth Club and SAI.

One of the key objectives of the programme is to sensitise young citizens about the importance of voting, encourage voter registration and correction of electoral roll.

The programme witnesses the active participation of MY Bharat volunteers, students and first-time voters. Activities include padyatras (rally on Foot) , two wheeler events, felicitation of first-time voters, voter awareness interactions, pledge-taking ceremony, cultural performance by Thingsiri cultural club of the college, and distribution of healthy refreshments. Dr. Lalrozama, the Chief Electoral Officer of Mizoram was the chiefguest who delivered an informative speech. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki , the principal delivered the welcome address, the pledge was administered by Mrs. Ramdinliani and the vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Mercy Sellate, State Director, MYB , Mizoram.

GREEN AUDIT INITIATIVES - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Green audit 2The Green Audit Committee, Govt T Romana College in promotion of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3Rs) organized Free distribution of second hand items to students on 15th December,2025 at College Campus. The items consisted of clothes, shoes, utensils, stationaries etc. contributed by Staffs of the College at the request of Green Audit Committee. These items were exhibited at the College Campus for students to choose any item they like, not only for themselves but also their families, free of cost.It is worthwhile to witness the excitement and joy of students to have such opportunity. The Committee is also pleased to organize activity which benefitted students and their families.

CLEANLINESS AND BEAUTIFICATION DRIVE

Cleanliness and Beautification Committee organized Cleanliness and Beautification Drive within the College Campus on 10th October,2025 with the purpose of enhancing the visual and cleanliness of the Campus. Members of the Committee were engaged in this drive doing the following works:
- Removed litters and garbage within the College Campus
- Planted shrubs and small plants
- Repotted plants and changed old and damaged flower pots
- Weeding and Pruning
This activity was undertaken with a goal to create more pleasant and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, faculty and with a hope to generate awareness among students and staff in maintaining cleanliness and environmental stewardship.

Field Visit to Lamchhip Village

The Department of Sociology, Government T. Romana College, in collaboration with the Rural Development Department, organised a one-day field visit to Lamchhip village on 14th October 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to rural life, social structures, and developmental initiatives implemented in rural areas.

A total of 47 students and faculty members participated in the program. The team departed from Aizawl in the morning and reached Lamchhip by 11 a.m. Upon arrival, the group was warmly received by BDO Aibawk, RD Dept staffs and the local community members and village council representatives.

During the visit, students interacted with villagers to learn about various aspects of rural society such as livelihood patterns, agricultural practices, education, and community-based organizations. The Department of Rural Development provided valuable insights into government schemes, rural infrastructure, and sustainable development practices being carried out in the area.

The visit offered students a meaningful opportunity to observe firsthand the challenges and progress of rural development in Mizoram. It also enhanced their understanding of how sociological theories relate to real-life rural contexts.

The program concluded with a group interaction and photo session amidst the scenic hills of Lamchhip. The field visit was an enriching and memorable experience for all participants, fostering both academic learning and community awareness.

FACULTY EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

Eng Faculty exchange prog

In fulfilment of the MoU signed between the Departments of English, Govt. T. Romana College and Mizoram Christian College, a Faculty Exchange programme was held on September 26, 2025. One faculty member of each college was designated as a guest lecturer to the participating departments and was assigned to the V Semester Major classes for the day. The Department of English, GTRC, was honoured to host Dr Hannah Lalhlanpuii from MCC, while Dr Dorothy Zonunsangi, Associate Professor, represented the English Department of Government. T. Romana College at Mizoram Christian College Campus. The programme marks the culmination of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which a Students' Exchange Programme and Faculty Exchange were previously conducted between the two parties. Both participating students and faculty members expressed great satisfaction over the successful conduct of the Exchange programmes.

World Heart Day Observed

World Heart Day was jointly organised by Health Cell IQAC, GTRC and thei Health Department of the government of Mizoram (NP-NCD) on 29.9.2025 at 12 Noon. Dr.Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, principal of the college chaired the session and gave the opening remarks. Dr. Lalthlengliani, Principal Director delivered a speech and the resource person Dr.Isak Lallawmkima, Cardiologist spoke on the topic "Dont Miss a Beat".
