Moral education1

The College organised a Moral Education Session on 27.8.2024 at Baptist Centre Folk Land and invited Rev. Dr. C. Vanlaldika as the resource person who spoke on topics such as Articifial and corruption free life and Drugs free life. More than 800 students attended the session. Mr. C.V.L Tlanhlua chaired the session. The Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki delivered the welcome address in which she addressed students in English, Hindi and Mizo and spoke on success in life without intoxicants and Corruption. Dr.Lalchhuanmawii proposed the vote of thanks.

Consumer Awareness 2024

A Consumer Awareness Campaign was organized for the students of Govt. T. Romana College at RUSA Hall on 26th August, 2024. The Campaign was organised by the Mizoram Consumers’ Union Headquarters and DC, Aizawl in collaboration with the Consumer Club, Govt. T. Romana college. The program was financed by the FCS & CA Department.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Benjamin Ralte, Chairman Consumer Club Government T. Romana College. Mr. R Lalremliana, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. The resource persons - Mr. Thanglura, Vice President MCU, Mr K. Zomuana, Secretary i/c Organisation and Mr H. Laldikliana, Treasurer all spoke on different matters relating to consumer’s rights and responsibilities, to create an awareness amongst the students. The program was concluded with a discussion session with students asking questions on the subject which were discussed and answered by the resource persons.

National Sports Day Celebrated

National Sports Day 2024 1Govt. T. Romana College celebrated National Sports day on the 29th August 2024 at Rusa Hall. The programme was organised by IQAC,GTRC and Sports Club, GTRC. NSS, GTRC Unit sponsored the programme. The theme of this year's sports day is Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies. The programme was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, Chairman Sports Club, GTRC. The College also felicited two students 1) Laldingliana V Semester English Core for his outstanding achievement in earning Gold (2023) and Silver (2024) in the National Armwresting and Para Armwresting Championships and 2) PT Helly Vanlalliana III Semester Political Science for his outstanding achievement in Volleyball in various State-level Championship Tournaments and for earning the tittle of Best Player in MSU cup. Various Mizo sport item competition was organised among the students.

Govt. T. Romana College celebrated Pre-Independence Day at the College ground on 14th August, 2024. Celebration of Independence Day has always been an important event organised by the College annually on 14th August every year. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. In her speech, the Principal elaborates 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and encourage the students of GTRC to be part of Developed India by contributing in nation's building. The function was chaired by Dr. Sakhawliana, IQAC Asst. Coordinator and it was attended by the students and staffs of the college.

Inauguration of Govt. T. Romana College Administrative Building (Faculty Room) and New Age Learning Centre

Dr. Vanlalthlana, Minister H&TE, inauguarated Govt. T. Romana College Administrative Building (Faculty Room) and New Age learning Centre on August 12, 2024. The inaugural function was chaired by Prof. Malsawmliana, Secretary of the College Infrastructure Committee. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal delivered a welcome address and briefly highlighted the progress made by the college through the collective efforts of the staffs and the students. Dr. Vanlalthlana, the chief guest addressed the gathering and congratulates the staff and the students on their contribution to the progress of the college. He further motivated the student to study hard and make the best used of the new technology in education. The Chief Guest also donated Rs. 10,000/- from his discretionary funds for the procurement of books for the college UPSC Center. The inaugural function ended with a prayer from Dr. Lalhmachhuana.

The College faculty room was constructed by vertically extending the Administrative Building. Construction of another two floors has been in progress. Majority of the construction funds comes from donation continuously contributed by the staff (teaching and non-teaching) of the college from their salary. The New Age learning Centre was installed in the College Library and the project was initiated by the Aizawl Smart City Limited to developed the public library including the colleges.

ANTI-TOBACCO AWARENESS PROGRAMME ORGANISED

As part of their joint efforts, the Anti-Tobacco Cell at Government T Romana College and National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram organized an Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme on the college campus on 09th August, 2024.The programme was divided into two parallel sessions. Dr. Lalhmachhuana, Chairman,GTRC Anti-Tobacco Cell, presided over the first session. The resource person was Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant for National Tobacco Control Programme, Aizawl East.

anti tobaco 1Dr. Sakhawliana chaired the other session, and the resource person was Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram.
The Resource persons delivered lectures on the harmful effects of tobacco use and abuse on our health and the environment in both sessions. Their personal experiences with tobacco misuse in our society were shared amongst the participant groups. They urged the student to abstain from tobacco use. More than 300 students participated in the programme. Participants also pledge to support an anti-tobacco campaign.

Govt. T. Romana College appreciated the programme and applauded the efforts of the National Tobacco Control Programme. The Mizoram National Tobacco Control Programme has decided to organise more Anti-Tobacco campaigns at GTRC shortly. As a consequence of the programme, the College has been designated as a "Tobacco-free campus". As suggested by the National Tobacco Control Programme, the Cell decided to organise more programmes within the Campus.

Govt. T. Romana College Students’ Union election was held on 31st July, 2024 and Mr. Lalthansanga, Associate Professor was the Returning Officer and the Polling Officers were Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala, R.D. Lalsanglura, C. Zirsangliana and Stephen. The new OBs took charged from the outgoing S.U. on 2nd August, 2023 in the presence of Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, the officiating President of the Students’ Union. International Lecture on Origin and Migration of the Mizo

International Lecture s

Govt. T. Romana College, Dept. of History and IQAC organised 'International Lecture on Origin and Migration of the Mizo' on 1st August, 2024. The program was chaired by Dr. Benjamin Ralte, HoD, Dept. Of History and R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal delivered a welcome speech. The invited Resource Person was Liandova Lusei from Myanmar, who has been working for dacades on the indigenous research on the origin of the Mizo and their migration process to various parts of Asia including the present Mongolia, Tibet, Colonial India including the present Bangladesh.

Liandova also briefly narrate the race and languages affinity of the Burmese with the various tribes of Mizo. He also highlighted the origin of the term 'lusei' and the suffix of 'i' and 'a' at the end of the names of female and male respectively. The lecture prespectives was to enrich the Mizo history. The session ended with an intereraction from the participants.

78th National Flag Day Celebration

Govt. T. Romana College, Dept. of Political Science and N.S.S. jointly organised 78th National Flag Day on July 22, 2024 at the College. On this occasion Mr. Lalthansanga, Asso. Professor and P.O. of the N.S.S. was the resource person. He delivered a lecture on the origin and the development of the National Flag. He elaborated on the importance and significance of our National Flag and it is the duty of every citizen to uphold and respect our Flag. The program was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, HoD, Dept. of Political Science and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Mary Lalngaihawmi, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Political Science.
