A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.

The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.

During the session, resource persons Lalfamkimi Advocate has highlighted key legal provisions related to child protection (Pocso Act) and BNS procedures designed to make the justice system more accessible and less intimidating for students. The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, reflecting the institution’s commitment to promoting legal awareness and social responsibility. The event concluded with an interactive session where participants clarified their doubts and shared their perspectives on strengthening child protection mechanisms.

Overall, the programme was informative and impactful, contributing to greater awareness and understanding of child-friendly legal services within the academic community.
