On August 8, 2022 the team of Research, Innovations and Extension Cell of Govt. T. Romana College had visited Sialsuk village and made a verbal agreement with the Village Council for adoption of their village by the College. The college Cell had been led by Prof. Malsawmliana, Chairman of the Cell along with Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Dr. Lalchhuanmawia, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi and Dr. Vanlalchami. The Village Council of Sialsuk Village was led by Mr. R. Lalruatkima, Village Council President. After a thorough discussion between the two teams, it was tentatively agreed that the formal inaugural function of ‘Adopted Village’ will be organized on August 26, 2022 at the village. The Research Cell in its meeting on May 17, 2022 had resolved Sialsuk village as study area for adopted village project.
On August 5, 2022, the Eco Club of Govt. T. Romana College organized plantation of orchids in the campus garden to enrich the biodiversity of the campus. Some variety of orchids had been donated by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Chairman of the Club and Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Dept. of History. With the new addition, there are more than ten varieties of orchids. At present, within the campus, there are more than 40 species of plants being identified.
On August 1, 2022 Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme had been jointly organized at the college campus by National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram and Anti-Tobacco Cell, Govt. T. Romana College. The programme had been organized in two parallel sessions. On the first Session, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Secretary Anti-Tobacco Cell, GTRC was the chairperson and Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme was the resource person. In the other session Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala was the chairperson and Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram was the resource person.
In the two sessions, both the resource person delivered lecture on the harmful impact on the use and abuse of tobacco, affecting our health and our environment. They shared their personal experience on the various encounters they had on the misuse of tobacco in our society. They urged the student to be free from tobacco. The participants also pledge for anti-tobacco campaign. The college welcomes the programme and highly appreciated the effort given by of the National Tobacco Control Programme. More than 300 students attended the programme. National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram decided to organized more programme on anti-tobacco campaign in the near future at GTRC. The College has been declared ‘tobacco free campus’.

Govt. T. Romana College, Students’ Union organised Fresher Social Cum Graduation Day on July 26, 2022 at Vanapa Hall. In this occasion Robert Romawia Royte, Minister of State was the Chief Guest, congratulating all the newly graduate students and encouraged them to gives their best for the society and Mizoram. The Minister released TRC Annual Magazine ‘Raltiang’ and also handed over the awards donated by various personal to the meritous students of the college. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC had delivered a welcome speech to all the fresher and also felicitated the outgoing students. As part of welcoming the new students, Saikungpuia Sailo, Vice President SU conducted the ‘oath’ taking ceremony for all the fresher. Lalbuatsaiha, the topper in Sociology subject in MZU undergraduate examination was awarded Home Plus Award which includes a sum of Rs. 15,000/- donated by R. Lalthlamuana, an alumni of GTRC.
In the function Student Evangelical Union choir performed the welcome song. GTRC's pride - Thingsiri Cultural Club performed cultural dances and a beautiful song was presented by an outgoing student Vanlalthlahlovi. Then, all the outgoing students had been felicitated by Principal, moving their tassel from right to left. All the graduating students tossed their Graduation Cap as high as they could as a sign to go higher and higher. The formal function was concluded with a vote of thanks from Lalramchhan, Social & Cultural Secy.
In the second session, the informal program was handed over to the Music Society, Mr. Lalchhuanmawia and his teams. The students sang and danced their heart out, enjoying the moment. In 2022 there were 342 students graduated, and there are 556 newly admitted. At present, 1510 students have been enrolled at GRTC.
Govt. T. Romana College organized orientation programme for the first semester students on July 12, 2022 in the college. The orientation programme was organized in four sessions dividing the newly admitted first semester students into four groups each consisting of 140 students. The first session was held at Library Building L-1 and chaired by Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi. The resource person was Mr. CVL Tlanhlua and the attendance in-charge was Mr. Lalhriatrenga. The Second session was held at Library Building L-2, chaired by Mr. Lalthansanga and the resource person was Mr. H. Lalnunmawia. The attendance in-charge was Mrs. Lalthanpari. The third session was orgnaised at Library Building L-3, chaired by Dr. Joseph K lalfakzuala and the resource person was Prof. Malsawmliana. The attendance in-charge was Ms. Lalmawizuali Khiangte. The fourth session was held at Library Building L-4, chaired by Mr. Lalsangzela Pachuau and the resource person was Dr. Benjamin Ralte. The attendance of the student’s presented were registered by Mr. Lalawmpuia. In all the four sessions Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC made a speech, welcoming the newly inducted students to the GTRC family and motivating them to give their best for the college and the society. Each resource person had briefly lectured the basic knowledge on CBCS, examination procedure, ERP system, different society set up by the college, compulsory attendance, relationship with others in the campus, cleanliness, plastic free campus, and important ethnical life as being a student. The college welcomes all the first semester students and wishes the best as a college student.
SYSTEMATIC VOTERS’ EDUCATION & ELECTORAL PARTICIPATION (SVEEP) Awraeness Campaign was organised by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner/ District Election Officer, Aizawl District, Mizoram (Election Branch) and Student Support, Progression & Placement Cell, IQAC at RUSA HALL, Govt. T. Romana College, Aizawl, Mizoram on 7th July, 2022.
The program was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Chiarperson SSPPC and welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC. Special number was performed by Michelle and Kimkimi, both students of 5th Semester, GTRC.
The program was handed over to Mrs. V. Lalmuanpuii MCS, Election Officer, Aizawl District. She gave an introductory speech on SVEEP to the student and stress the importance and value of their vote. The resource person also lectured on the authenticity of the Electronic Voting Machine, its reliability and how the machine has been transforming the voting system in the election in India.
The campaign was the first of its type among the college students and the participant valued the program. There was also quiz at the end of the session and the student responded well to the quiz. At the end of the session Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala had delivered the vote of thanks. The organizing team thanks the Principal who had taken all the initiatives, the Election Officer and her team for choosing our college to be the first for the awareness campaign. The organizing team also thanks Pu Lalhmachhuana and Mr. Lalzawmsanga for the arrangements of sound, lights and the banner. Students attending the awareness campaign on SVEEP are expected to gain knowledge on the voting process and be aware of their responsibility to be a good citizen.

The following applicants are selected for admission to 1st Semester B.A., 2022 at Govt. T. Romana College. These applicants must finalise their admission on 17th and 20th June, 2022, failing which their seat will be automatically cancelled. As seats are already full in Education and Political Science they have not been included in the list. Admission fee amounting to Rs. 4290/- may be paid in the College Office Counter during office hours.
