Fresher's Social cum Graduation Day 2024

graduation2024aGovt. T. Romana College organised the Annual Fresher's cum Graduation Day at Vanapa Hall on July 18, 2024. The programme was graced by C. Lalsawivunga, Minister as a Chief Guest. The chief guest released the annual college Magazine 'RALTIANG'. combineHe called upon the students to take part in nation building process and encouraged them to aspire for all India and central services. GTRC being situated in his constituency, the Chief Guest announced that Rs. 5 lakh had been set aside from his MLA funds for the development of the College Library.

Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, Govt. T. Romana College delivered her welcome speech congratulating all the graduating students and gave accomodation with a warm heart to all freshers. Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal delivered motivational speech and used the platform to prepare the students for NAAC preparation. Lalhruaizela SU Vice President also gave a speech.

The event was attended by representatives from Govt. T. Romana College Alumni Association, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) and Mizo Students' Union (MSU).

This year 248 students successfully completed their bachelors degree and 388 students are newly admitted in the 1st Semester. At present 1224 students are enrolled in the college.

Govt. T. Romana College was established in the year 1992 as a private institution, upgraded to grant-in-aid (deficit) status in 2003 and provincialised in 2008.  There are 8 Departments and various courses has been introduced after the adoption of the NEP (New Education Policy). At present there are 43 faculties and 17 administrative staffs. Hostel facilities is available for both Boys and Girls.

Book Release - 'Popular Culture & Literature: Emerging Trends'

Eng book release s'Popular Culture & Literature: Emerging Trends', a book published by the Dept of English, GTRC was released by Dr Vanlalthlana, Ho'ble Minister of H&TE etc., at his Office Chamber on June 27, 2024.

Speaking at the release function, the Hon'ble Minister reiterated the importance of preserving culture, both popular and traditional, and commended the publishers on achieving such a preservation in the form of a published book. He also encouraged those gathered to work tirelessly in cultivating and accomplishing intellectual pursuits that would benefit the society at large. Also speaking on the occasion, Dr Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC congratulated the English Dept on their achievement and commented that the book, being one of the first of its kind, is a valuable asset to the academic fraternity. The Book Launch, chaired by Dr Dorothy Zonunsangi, HoD had a preview of the book presented by Ms Catherine L.Chhangte while Dr Lalrinmawii Tochhawng proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The book, containing 15 prose pieces and 17 poems is an extension of an International Seminar of the same name organised by the College in September, 2023 and is edited by Lalrinmawii Tochhawng, Tommy Remchhunga and Lalmawizuali Khiangte.

Legal cellOn 7th June 2024 a Special Lecture on New Criminal Laws was conducted at RUSA Hall. The Special Lecture was organised by Legal Cell, Government T. Romana College. H. Zodinsanga Advocate, Advocates Chamber Khatla presented the New Criminal Laws to the students.

Govt T. Romana College opens admission to 1st Semester for the year 2024 from 22 May to 14 June, 2024. Admission is offered to applicants on First Come First Serve basis. Admission can be done both in Online and Offline Modes in every working day during office hour. College Prospectus and Admission Form is available at Office Counter. Help Desk is set up with Professors on duty to help and guide applicants. Applicants are advised to approach the HELP DESK for any problems and queries. Finishing School 2024 - Self-Reliance, Entrepreneurship & Armed Forces

finishing school 2024Finishing School 2024 was jointly organised by Student Support, Progression & Placement Cell, IQAC & Entrepreneurship Knowledge Cell, GTRC at the College Campus on April 26, 2024. The programme was orgnaised in three parallel sessions with three different themes. The theme of Sesssion I was ‘Self Reliance’ and it was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani. The resource person was Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC and she stressed on the importance of ‘self-reliance’ through confidence and hard work. Session II was chaired by Dr. Lalchhuanmawia, Chairman of E.K. Cell. The resource person Mrs. M.S. Dawngliani, State Mission Manager, UD&PA (NLUM) delivered a lecture on the theme ‘Entrepreneurship’.

Session III was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal & Chairman, SSPPC. The resource person was Maj. John VL Khawlhring, District Sainik Welfare & Resettlement Officer (DSW&RO), Aizawl District. The resource person after delivering career campaigned had an interaction with students who want to join the Indian Armed Forces. The programme has been annually organised as part of the college regular activities to motivate and guide the outgoing students for their future career.

Meet the author 2024Meet the Author Programme was organized by Department of Mizo, on 24th April, 2024, 12:00 noon at Room no A-4 in the College. Miss K. Vanlalhmangaihi, winner of the prestigious Mizo Academy of Letters (MAL) Book of the Year 2023 was the invited author. Miss K. Vanlalhmangaihi graduated in Mizo from Government T. Romana College in 2018 and she is presently a member of Govt. T. Romana College Alumni. Miss K. Vanlalhmangaihi is the youngest author to win the “Book of the Year” title in Mizoram. Her book which win the title is 'Pangparhnima' which she started writing in 2021 and  published in 2023. The programme was hosted by Mr R.D. Lalsanglura, Asst Professor GTRC. The programme was attended by the students of 6th semester, Dept of Mizo and faculties of the College and members of the alumni.

POCSO ACT

Awareness campaign on POCSO Act 2012 ( The Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012) was organised by Women Empowerment Cell, Governtment T. Romana College on 16th April 2024 at Education Department Core Room.The programme was chaired by Dr. Rosy Lalrinsangi, Chairman Women Empowerment Cell, Govt.T.Romana college.The resource person Dr.Lalchhuanmawii, secretary, Women Empowerment Cell/ Internal complaint Cell, Govt.T.Romana College presented paper on POCSO Act 2012. The awareness campaign was attended by students of Public Administration and Education 6th semester.

Felicitation of medal and trophy winners

sports felicitation2The College felicitated medal and trophy winners in the Mizoram University and MSU sports on 20.3.24 and held a celebration for the same on 15.4.24 at Olea Picnic Spot , Silaimual. The programme was incorporated with a sports promotional session wherein the principal encouraged the sports personalities to stay physically fit and abstain from intoxicating substances.
