Two-day National Conference on Space and Territoriality in North East India - Exploring New Avenues in Border Thinking was organised by Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi & Department of Political Science, Govt. T. Romana College on February 9 & 10, 2023.

The inaugural session was chaired by Ramdinliani, HoD, Dept. of Political Science, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC gave a welcome speech to the delegates. Mrs. Sangchhin Chinzah I.A.S. Director of H & TE was the chief guest and Prof. J. Zorema a renowned historian delivered the keynote address. Mr. K. Kokho, Assistant Professor and NEC Nodal Officer, Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (CNESPR), Jamia Millia Islamia gave introductory remarks on the whole idea of the conference. The guests were enthralled by the song sang by Ms. Lalrinkimi of college Music Society and captivated by cultural dance performed by Thingsiri Cultural Club. All the dignitaries on the dice were presented special gifts by the Principal and the same had been done by Mr. K. Kokho with their beautiful Naga ethnic cloth. Mr. Lalsangzela Pachuau concluded the inaugural session with a vote of thanks.

There were six technical sessions chaired by Prof. J. Doungel, Mr. Lalthansanga, Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Dr. C.V. Lalmalsawmi & Mr. K. Kokho. Overall there were twenty three papers presented by scholars belonging to different renowned institutes across India including J.N.U., Allahabad University, T.I.S.S., Dibrugarh University, Sikkim University, Mizoram University, NEHU, etc. There were different papers on wide range of topic covering the north eastern regions coving the theme of the seminar. The abstract/report of the papers presented in each technical session and the discussion were archived. In the valedictory session on 10th February, Dr. Joseph K. Lalfakzuala chaired the session and Michelle Lallawmawmi of Music Society presented a special item. Two participants Ms. Zoparliani and Dr. N. Somorendro Singh gave a delightful feedback. Mr. K. Kokho NEC Nodal Officer, CNESPR, Jamia Millia Islamia congratulated the local organizing. Finally, parting speech was delivered by the Principal Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki and also congratulating the collaboration of the organizing team of both Jamia Milia Islamia and Govt. T. Romana College.
