NOTIFICATION
In pursuance of the resolution of the meeting of NEP-2020(UG) Committee held on 4th July, 2024, and with the approval of Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University the following notification is hereby issued which will be effective from 2024-2025 academic session-
1. The promotion rules specified in Notification No. MZU/TFC- NEP 2020/24/1 dated 21st March 2024, which required students to clear at least 50% of the courses to progress from the first year to the second year, from the second year to the third year, and from the third year to the fourth year, is revoked and shall align with those of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Accordingly, a candidate shall be permitted to proceed from the First Semester up to the Final Semester irrespective of his/her failure in any of the Semester Examinations. However, the candidate must appear for all the arrear papers of each course(s) along with the concerned Semester Examinations.
II. For appearing in the End Semester examination, a student shall not be required to pass the internal assessment (i.e 40%). The passing criteria for a paper will be an aggregate of 40% marks
III. For change of major at the end of the first year-
a) A student must complete one additional year to obtain the required credits in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to change However, total period will not exceed 14 consecutive Semesters and also such student will not be considered for merit/ranking etc.
or,
b) A student must complete an Online Course of the same credit in the concerned subject in which the student wishes to change the major, subject to the availability of the Online Courses approved by Mizoram University or the SWAYAM Courses.
IV. All Minor Papers (Science) of Undergraduate shall exclude the practical component, which means that no practical paper shall be included in minor science papers for Undergraduate Courses.
V. The name 'Environmental Science/Education' in the Value Added Course for the Third Semester is renamed as 'Environmental Education' for Undergraduate Courses.
On 30th November, the College released a book "Advancing Beyond Obstscles : The Empowerment of Women" published by the Department of English and the Women Cell of IQAC. The book was launched by Prof. Malsawmliana in the function organised by the principal in which she released two of her books namely "Scribbles, Strokes and Clicks" a book of poems and "Mizo Women who Made a Difference" which is a collection of biodata of some exceptional women who have broken gender barriers in their respective professional fields.
On December 10, 2024, the Evangelical Union of Govt T. Romana College visited Hermon Children's Home to celebrate Christmas. As a gesture of goodwill, a donation of ₹10,000, along with sweets and clothing, was presented to the Home's Mother, Mrs. Tanteii.
Principal Dr. Jenifer delivered a brief speech and offered a prayer, supported by EU Adviser Miss Baby Lalramsiami. EU office bearers, including Leader Hriata, Secretary Rinhlui, and Assistant Secretary LKa, along with students, participated in the event.
Hermon Children's Home, originally known as ZEF, was established around 1979. Currently, it provides care for 49 children.
Mr. Lalengmawia, IAS, the Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, paid a visit to Govt. T. Romana College on May 13, 2025. The Commissioner was accompanied by some officials from the Secretariat and the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. A brief meeting was held in the Meeting Hall to extend a warm welcome to the Commissioner and his team. The meeting was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice-Principal of Government T. Romana College, who welcomed the Commissioner and the other officials and provided a brief overview of the College’s history.
6th semester students of the department of Public Administration, Govt T.Romana College attended training on Suntainable Life Skill: Rural Development Schemes at the SIRD&PR Auditorium on 4th April, 2025.
In the Rope Access Challenge organised by Sports and Youth Services Department on 5th and 6th June,2025, over 10 registered clubs participated and the Kings Youth Adventure Club of Govt T. Romana college won 3rd position.
On May 21, 2025, the department honoured the 6th Semester topper in the 2nd Continuous Test (2nd CAT) and hosted a final meeting for the outgoing students. A total of 24 students attended the programme. The primary goal of felicitation for meritorious students was to recognise and celebrate academic brilliance among students who have done well in the Internal Test.
The college observed Green Day on 10.6.2025 by planting saplings in the college campus.
Govt .T. Romana college students on study tour perform social work on 9.6.2025 to clean their lodging place, the Mizoram House complex at Shillong, Meghalaya .
