
GTRC observes National Librarians Day on 12. 8. 2025 in commemoration of Dr. SR. Ranganathan, who is the father of Library Science in India.
A short programme initiated by the Library Committee was held at the courtyard of the College Library. Books donation drive was carried out where a number of books were donated.
The programme was chaired by Mr. Lalthansanga, Chairman, Library Committee. A short report was given by Dr. S. Lalnunpuia, College Librarian.and a short and inspiring speech was delivered by Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal.

Pu H Lalengmawia IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Mizoram and Chairman, IRCS, Mizoram State Branch inaugurates IRCS activities at Govt. T. Romana College on July 31, 2025. The inaugural programme was organized into two parallel sessions.
The first formal session was chaired by Pu Francis Lallawmkima, Treasurer, Managing Committee, IRCS Mizoram State Branch. Pu Zodinsanga, Assistant Secretary, Managing Committee, IRCS Mizoram State Branch gives brief history and activities of IRCS in Mizoram.
Pu Lalremliana, Vice Principal GTRC addressed the gathering and deeply appreciated the activities of the IRCS. He also thanks the Chief Guest for sharing his valuable time to inaugurates IRCS activities. Pu Lalengmawia IAS, the Chief Guest addressed the function and delivered speech. The Chief Guest reiterate that Red Cross is a global humanitarian organization founded by Henry Dunant in Switzerland in 1863 and to help the wounded soldier. Red Cross was founded in India in 1920 in New Delhi. He also mentioned the seven principles – humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, universality and unity, are in similar terms with the tenets and teaching of Jesus Christ. Mizo society is one of the most fertile soil on which the principal of IRCS can be sown and thrived. He asked the student to enrolled as the member of Mizoram Branch and reminded that the membership do not have any personal benefit but only voluntary service to the needy. The Chief Guest also presented Life Membership Certificates to R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal and Pi Lalsangluri Sailo, Chairman, college Health Cell. The chief Guest also handed over 30 blankets and 1 oxygen concentrator to the college. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Benjamin Lalrinpuia, Joint Secretary, IRCS Mizoram State Branch. The programme was hosted by Pi Lalremmawii, HoD, Dept. of Mizo.
In the second session, Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid Training was organised by Mrs. Lalmuanpuii Hnamte, Faculty RIPANS, in which 50 students from various department attended the training. The trainees found that the basic training course was very significant and productive to acquire basic knowledge on how to maintain our health daily and gives first aid to the wounded.

The Freshers’ Social cum Graduation Day of Government T. Romana College was successfully held on 25.07.25 at the Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall.
The event was graced by the Honorable minister as Chief Guest, Dr. Vanlalthlana, who gave an inspiring speech and released the college Magazine. The Principal, Mizo Students’ Union representative and Alumni members delivered speech. Various awards were also presented, followed by a felicitation programme for the new graduates.
To make the programme both vibrant and memorable, different clubs showcased their talents, making the event a grand success.

A ‘One Week Faculty Development Programme’ was conducted by the IQAC, Govt. T. Romana College, GTRC from 11th July to 16th July, 2025. The first day of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC, Govt. T. Romana College. The Resource Person was Dr. Esther L. Chhangte, Principal of Government Mizoram Law College. The college had recently undergone the NAAC inspection through an online mode, marking it as the first institution in Mizoram to be evaluated in this manner.
Dr. Chhangte, in her address, emphasized several key points as guiding principles. Few of the key points include: the crucial role of the Co-ordinator during the inspection process, the significance of having a reliable and stable internet connection, the importance to prepare pre-recorded videos highlighting the institution's infrastructure, arrangements should also be made to facilitate live video demonstrations, Proper time management throughout the inspection, best practice of the college should be presented in a clear and an appealing manner.
The second day of FDP was held at Tuikual Indoor Stadium, Tuikual North, Aizawl on the theme, ‘UNITED WITH ONE CAUSE’. The event was chaired by Mr. Freddy Lalmuanpuia, Vice-President, Student Union and Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal & Ex-Officio President of Student Union delivered a speech on the theme. The Principal reiterated the significant role played by the Alumni in the development of the college. She further acknowledged that the college has been taking initiative in bringing all-round development to the students by promoting sports and other extracurricular activities under the guidance of faculty members. It was followed by an interactive session of a volleyball match between Alumni and the Volleyball team of GTRC.
The third day of FDP was held on 14th July 2025, at the meeting hall, Govt. T Romana College. The session was chaired by Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC. The Chairman commenced the programme by apprising the gathering that the information to be disseminated by the resource persons is derived from the “Consultative Meeting on the Implementation of Internship, Project Work & Community Outreach (IPC) in Undergraduate Programmes under NEP 2020,” convened by the Examination Department of Mizoram University on 8th July 2025. The chairman further addressed the presentation on IPC to be delivered by two resource persons.
Prof. Malsawmliana from the Department of History delivered the first presentation on the topic, “Sensitization on IPC (Internship, Project Work, Community Outreach) under NEP 2020.
Dr. Rosy Lalrinsangi, Assistant Coordinator IQAC, as the second Resource Person, also highlighted matters concerning internship for 5th Semester students.
The fourth day of FDP was held on 15th July 2025, at the meeting hall, Govt. T Romana College.
The session was chaired by Dr. Sakhawliana, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC. The Chairperson initiated the session with a brief introduction to the ongoing Faculty Development Programme (FDP). He expressed appreciation for the active participation of faculty members and highlighted the key insights from the previous three sessions. The coordinators of the FDP were also introduced. Following this, he welcomed the day’s resource person, Prof. Lalbiakdiki Hnamte, and invited her to lead the session. The Resource person Prof. Lalbiakdiki Hnamte, Director, CDC, Mizoram University delivered presentation on the topic, “Optimising Service Delivery among College Teachers”. She highlighted the current development stage of the college, noting its aspirations to face the NAAC peer team visit, tentatively scheduled for January 2026. Responding to earlier NAAC recommendations, she emphasized the need to diversify academic offerings by starting PG programmes and expanding research activities.
The final day of FDP held on 16th July 2025 at GTRC meeting hall. The proceedings commenced with Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Coordinator, IQAC. She extended a warm welcome to the Resource Person, Dr. M.S. Dawngliani, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, of Zirtiri Residential Science College and expressed gratitude for her availability despite her busy schedule. The Resource Person, currently serving as the IQAC Coordinator of Zirtiri Residential Science College since 2024, reciprocated the courtesy by thanking the Chairperson for the invitation to participate in the Faculty Development Program. The Resource Person delivered a presentation on the topic “Introduction of MOOC Course for Higher Education”. Her presentation stressed that the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is accessible to all individuals with internet connectivity, offering an affordable means of enhancing higher education opportunities. Besides, the benefits and various platforms of MOOC were also highlighted. The Resource Person focused mainly on STUDY WEB OF ACTIVE LEARNING FOR YOUNG ASPIRING MINDS (SWAYAM) – IITS, IIMS, UGC (925 COURSES), which was launched on 9th July 2017.
The One-week Faculty Development Programme Organised by IQAC, GTRC, concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rosy Lalrinsangi, IQAC Assistant Coordinator.

Vanlalruatfela 4th Semester participated in the 16th Junior National Bodybuilding Championship held in Hyderabad, Telangana, as he secured a National Bronze Medal. 🏅
This achievement marks a historic milestone as it is the first time a Mizo athlete has won a national-level medal in this competition. By ushering in this new chapter for the Mizo community, he has brought us great pride. We extend our heartiest congratulations to him on this significant success.

Govt. T. Romana College, successfully underwent “Energy & Green Audit” on 25 August 2025 to assess the initiative. The college qualified the requirements of Green audit as per A+ Grade. The certificate is valid till August 2028.

A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.
C. Malsawmtluanga of Fourth Semester won the 1st Prize in India's Open Arm Wrestling Competition in Bhogeswari Indoor stadium, Guwahati on the 15th of February, 2026 organised by Clubdowntown.
C. Malsawmtluang had also won the gold medal in the First Inter- College Arm wrestling Competition organised by the college in 2025 .

On February 16, 2026 the Department of Public Administration organised Training of Sustainable Life Skill for students of 6th Semester at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Mizoram. Three faculty and 43 students participated in the training. This is the third consecutive year for organising such training for students.
It is a tradition in Govt. T.Romana College to observe Valentines Day by creating an awareness on safe sex and promoting celibacy until marriage. The college observed the same on 13th February, 2026 as the 14th of February falls on a Saturday.
