On August 9, 2022, Anti-Ragging Cell of Govt. T. Romana College organized campaign against ragging among the hostellers of the College Girl’s Hostel. In the programme, campaign speech was delivered by Mrs. Lalngaihawmi Khiangte, Secretary of the Cell. Two faculty members of the Cell, Mrs. Baby Lalremsiami and Mr. Vanlalfinga were also presented in the program and interaction session was held with the hostellers. At present, there are twenty four (24) hostellers in the Girl’s Hostel and in the admission process preference has been given to the weaker section of the society and the rural areas.
On August 8, 2022 the team of Research, Innovations and Extension Cell of Govt. T. Romana College had visited Sialsuk village and made a verbal agreement with the Village Council for adoption of their village by the College. The college Cell had been led by Prof. Malsawmliana, Chairman of the Cell along with Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Dr. Lalchhuanmawia, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi and Dr. Vanlalchami. The Village Council of Sialsuk Village was led by Mr. R. Lalruatkima, Village Council President. After a thorough discussion between the two teams, it was tentatively agreed that the formal inaugural function of ‘Adopted Village’ will be organized on August 26, 2022 at the village. The Research Cell in its meeting on May 17, 2022 had resolved Sialsuk village as study area for adopted village project.
On August 5, 2022, the Eco Club of Govt. T. Romana College organized plantation of orchids in the campus garden to enrich the biodiversity of the campus. Some variety of orchids had been donated by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Chairman of the Club and Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Dept. of History. With the new addition, there are more than ten varieties of orchids. At present, within the campus, there are more than 40 species of plants being identified.
On August 1, 2022 Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme had been jointly organized at the college campus by National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram and Anti-Tobacco Cell, Govt. T. Romana College. The programme had been organized in two parallel sessions. On the first Session, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Secretary Anti-Tobacco Cell, GTRC was the chairperson and Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme was the resource person. In the other session Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala was the chairperson and Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram was the resource person.
In the two sessions, both the resource person delivered lecture on the harmful impact on the use and abuse of tobacco, affecting our health and our environment. They shared their personal experience on the various encounters they had on the misuse of tobacco in our society. They urged the student to be free from tobacco. The participants also pledge for anti-tobacco campaign. The college welcomes the programme and highly appreciated the effort given by of the National Tobacco Control Programme. More than 300 students attended the programme. National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram decided to organized more programme on anti-tobacco campaign in the near future at GTRC. The College has been declared ‘tobacco free campus’.

Vanlalruatfela 4th Semester participated in the 16th Junior National Bodybuilding Championship held in Hyderabad, Telangana, as he secured a National Bronze Medal. 🏅
This achievement marks a historic milestone as it is the first time a Mizo athlete has won a national-level medal in this competition. By ushering in this new chapter for the Mizo community, he has brought us great pride. We extend our heartiest congratulations to him on this significant success.

Govt. T. Romana College, successfully underwent “Energy & Green Audit” on 25 August 2025 to assess the initiative. The college qualified the requirements of Green audit as per A+ Grade. The certificate is valid till August 2028.

A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.
C. Malsawmtluanga of Fourth Semester won the 1st Prize in India's Open Arm Wrestling Competition in Bhogeswari Indoor stadium, Guwahati on the 15th of February, 2026 organised by Clubdowntown.
C. Malsawmtluang had also won the gold medal in the First Inter- College Arm wrestling Competition organised by the college in 2025 .

On February 16, 2026 the Department of Public Administration organised Training of Sustainable Life Skill for students of 6th Semester at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Mizoram. Three faculty and 43 students participated in the training. This is the third consecutive year for organising such training for students.
It is a tradition in Govt. T.Romana College to observe Valentines Day by creating an awareness on safe sex and promoting celibacy until marriage. The college observed the same on 13th February, 2026 as the 14th of February falls on a Saturday.
