As part of their joint efforts, the Anti-Tobacco Cell at Government T Romana College and National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram organized an Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme on the college campus on 09th August, 2024.The programme was divided into two parallel sessions. Dr. Lalhmachhuana, Chairman,GTRC Anti-Tobacco Cell, presided over the first session. The resource person was Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant for National Tobacco Control Programme, Aizawl East.
Dr. Sakhawliana chaired the other session, and the resource person was Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram.
The Resource persons delivered lectures on the harmful effects of tobacco use and abuse on our health and the environment in both sessions. Their personal experiences with tobacco misuse in our society were shared amongst the participant groups. They urged the student to abstain from tobacco use. More than 300 students participated in the programme. Participants also pledge to support an anti-tobacco campaign.
Govt. T. Romana College appreciated the programme and applauded the efforts of the National Tobacco Control Programme. The Mizoram National Tobacco Control Programme has decided to organise more Anti-Tobacco campaigns at GTRC shortly. As a consequence of the programme, the College has been designated as a "Tobacco-free campus". As suggested by the National Tobacco Control Programme, the Cell decided to organise more programmes within the Campus.
Govt. T. Romana College Students’ Union election was held on 31st July, 2024 and Mr. Lalthansanga, Associate Professor was the Returning Officer and the Polling Officers were Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala, R.D. Lalsanglura, C. Zirsangliana and Stephen. The new OBs took charged from the outgoing S.U. on 2nd August, 2023 in the presence of Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, the officiating President of the Students’ Union. Govt. T. Romana College, Dept. of History and IQAC organised 'International Lecture on Origin and Migration of the Mizo' on 1st August, 2024. The program was chaired by Dr. Benjamin Ralte, HoD, Dept. Of History and R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal delivered a welcome speech. The invited Resource Person was Liandova Lusei from Myanmar, who has been working for dacades on the indigenous research on the origin of the Mizo and their migration process to various parts of Asia including the present Mongolia, Tibet, Colonial India including the present Bangladesh.
Liandova also briefly narrate the race and languages affinity of the Burmese with the various tribes of Mizo. He also highlighted the origin of the term 'lusei' and the suffix of 'i' and 'a' at the end of the names of female and male respectively. The lecture prespectives was to enrich the Mizo history. The session ended with an intereraction from the participants.
Govt. T. Romana College, Dept. of Political Science and N.S.S. jointly organised 78th National Flag Day on July 22, 2024 at the College. On this occasion Mr. Lalthansanga, Asso. Professor and P.O. of the N.S.S. was the resource person. He delivered a lecture on the origin and the development of the National Flag. He elaborated on the importance and significance of our National Flag and it is the duty of every citizen to uphold and respect our Flag. The program was chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, HoD, Dept. of Political Science and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Mary Lalngaihawmi, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Political Science.
Mr. Lalengmawia, IAS, the Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, paid a visit to Govt. T. Romana College on May 13, 2025. The Commissioner was accompanied by some officials from the Secretariat and the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. A brief meeting was held in the Meeting Hall to extend a warm welcome to the Commissioner and his team. The meeting was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice-Principal of Government T. Romana College, who welcomed the Commissioner and the other officials and provided a brief overview of the College’s history.
6th semester students of the department of Public Administration, Govt T.Romana College attended training on Suntainable Life Skill: Rural Development Schemes at the SIRD&PR Auditorium on 4th April, 2025.
In the Rope Access Challenge organised by Sports and Youth Services Department on 5th and 6th June,2025, over 10 registered clubs participated and the Kings Youth Adventure Club of Govt T. Romana college won 3rd position.
On May 21, 2025, the department honoured the 6th Semester topper in the 2nd Continuous Test (2nd CAT) and hosted a final meeting for the outgoing students. A total of 24 students attended the programme. The primary goal of felicitation for meritorious students was to recognise and celebrate academic brilliance among students who have done well in the Internal Test.
The college observed Green Day on 10.6.2025 by planting saplings in the college campus.
