
The Department of History, Govt. T. Romana College organised Special Lecture on 'Banking as a Career' on August 30,2024 at the Library building. Mr Zodinsanga, former student and Assistant Manager, Union Bank of India, Khawzawl Branch delivered lecture and awareness on Banking.
The programme was attended by students of History and Economics department.

The Sociology department of Govt. T. Romana College observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September, 2024, with the goal of raising awareness and promoting prevention of suicide among the 5th Semester students. Mrs. Lalngaihawmi Khiangte delivered a comprehensive lecture on ‘The causes, consequences and prevention strategies of suicide’, highlighting the rising suicide rates in Mizoram, causes, consequences and the importance of community involvement and support system in the prevention of suicides.
A ‘One Week Faculty Development Programme’ was conducted by the IQAC, Govt. T. Romana College, GTRC from 26th July to 30th August, 2024. The first day of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Coordinator, IQAC, Govt. T. Romana College. At the outset, the chairperson introduced the motives behind the Faculty Development Programme and how it will serve as a part and parcel of the NAAC initiatives and also for the development of the college fraternity. The inaugural speech was given by Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, Govt T. Romana College. The resource person, Dr Sanny Tochhawng, a retired professor, Govt. Hrangbana College took the stand and opened her lecture on the implications of Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) in NAAC Accreditation. 
The resource person talked about the inception of the AAA framework and the deployment of the same in HEI’s administrations for effective quality assurance; the systemization of the AAA serves as a gauge in maintaining standard and quality in HEI’s across the nation. Some key points from her presentation include - compulsory certification under the AAA framework for quality assurance, two AAA formats - Institutional and Departmental, recommendations for completing the AAA like gathering feedback from all college stakeholders - students, parents, faculty members - teaching and non-teaching, etc.
The second day of the FDP took place at the Baptist Centre, Falkland on the 27th August, 2024. The programme was organized by IQAC in collaboration with Health and Medical Cell, and the Students’ Evangelical Union, Govt. T. Romana College. The Chairman. Mr. CVL. Tlanhlua addressed the gathering and thanked the MSEU Praise Team for their invaluable support. He further emphasised the shortcomings and requirements of the youth, especially the college students and how “Moral Education” is indeed the need of the hour. 
The Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki also explained the initiative behind the organization of the event and welcomed the Resource Person and the attendees. Subsequently, a special item was presented by the Students’ Evangelical Union Choir and Mr. Ngurthansanga, Asst. Professor. Department of Mizo. The Resource Person, Rev. Dr. C Vanlaldika, the current Principal of Academy of Integrated Christian Studies (AICS), touched upon the importance of Moral Reformation in the academia, personal and spiritual life and challenged the gathering to not be afraid or ashamed to present themselves as their true self both in life and in their academic lives. Moreover, he motivated the audience to embrace their true selves without fear or shame, emphasizing the importance of true thirst for knowledge and uncompromised integrity. Thereafter, Dr. Lalchhuanmawii, HoD Department of Public Administration concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
The third day of the FDP was held on the 28th August, 2024 at the Meeting Hall, Govt. T. Romana College. The Session was chaired by Pu Lalthansanga, Committee Member, IQAC. The Resource person, Mr C. Laldinsanga, Head, Department of Sociology, Govt T. Romana College gave an extensive presentation on AAA- Departmental format. Some of the key points from her presentation include - Contribution towards curriculum design and development, Teaching plan and diary, Monthly departmental meeting with minutes, Value added course, multidisciplinary course, diploma course, etc. Moreover, he highlighted Teaching, Learning and Evaluation related matters, such as ICT-enabled classrooms, percentage of teachers using ICT, E-resources and online tools available, Teaching aids, syllabus coverage, Parents-Teachers Meet (PTM), and so on. Furthermore, he also had an in-depth discussion on various AAA Criteria which encompassed Research, Innovation and Extension, Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Governance, Leadership and Management, Student’s Support and Progression, Institutional values and Best Practices.
The fourth day of the FDP was held on the 29th August, 2024 at the Meeting Hall, Govt. T. Romana College. The Session was chaired by Mr. H. Lalnunmawia, Committee Member, IQAC. The Resource person Dr. Sakhawliana gave a brief yet compact presentation on the NAAC- New Metrics 2024 which is the reformation of the NAAC 2019 and discussed how to incorporate it in the current New Education Policy. He stated the main features of the New Metrics which are binary Accreditation, Maturity- Based Graded Accreditation and One Nation One Data Platform. He further made a distinct comparison between the NAAC- New Metrics 2024 with the old NAAC 2019 and emphasizes on the points and fronts needed to strengthened by the institution which could prove to be beneficial for the next NAAC assessment.
The final day of the FDP was held on the 30th August, 2024 at GTRC Meeting Hall. The Concluding session was chaired by Dr. Sakhawliana, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC. The Principal welcomed and handed a small token of appreciation to the resource person for the day, Mr Lalnunvula, Deputy Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Govt. of Mizoram. The Resource Person gave a brief rundown on 7 most important rules pertaining to the conduct of government servants and the importance of abiding by these rules at all point during the service years of a government servant, such as CCS (Conduct Rules) -1964, CCS (Leave) Rules -1972, CCS (Joining Time) Rules - 1979, CCS (GPF) Rules - 1960, CCS (Pension) Rules -1972 and so on. The resource person received and addressed queries from the attendees regarding services related issues.
The One-week Faculty Development Programme Organised by IQAC concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, the IQAC Coordinator.


Govt. T. Romana College has established itself as a Plastic-free campus, with the objective of significantly reducing plastic waste and pollution both within the campus and in the surrounding environment. In line with this commitment, on the 30th August 2024, a surprise inspection was carried out at the main entrance of the College to assess the use of single-use plastics among students and staff. The inspection was conducted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Eco Club and Cleanliness and Beautification Cell, GTRC. The initiative proved to be effective, as the inspection team discovered one student and one staff member in possession of single-use plastic items. As a result, their bottles were confiscated, and a fine was imposed for breaching the regulations established by the College authorities.

Vanlalruatfela 4th Semester participated in the 16th Junior National Bodybuilding Championship held in Hyderabad, Telangana, as he secured a National Bronze Medal. 🏅
This achievement marks a historic milestone as it is the first time a Mizo athlete has won a national-level medal in this competition. By ushering in this new chapter for the Mizo community, he has brought us great pride. We extend our heartiest congratulations to him on this significant success.

Govt. T. Romana College, successfully underwent “Energy & Green Audit” on 25 August 2025 to assess the initiative. The college qualified the requirements of Green audit as per A+ Grade. The certificate is valid till August 2028.

A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.
C. Malsawmtluanga of Fourth Semester won the 1st Prize in India's Open Arm Wrestling Competition in Bhogeswari Indoor stadium, Guwahati on the 15th of February, 2026 organised by Clubdowntown.
C. Malsawmtluang had also won the gold medal in the First Inter- College Arm wrestling Competition organised by the college in 2025 .

On February 16, 2026 the Department of Public Administration organised Training of Sustainable Life Skill for students of 6th Semester at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Mizoram. Three faculty and 43 students participated in the training. This is the third consecutive year for organising such training for students.
It is a tradition in Govt. T.Romana College to observe Valentines Day by creating an awareness on safe sex and promoting celibacy until marriage. The college observed the same on 13th February, 2026 as the 14th of February falls on a Saturday.
